Burnet, just a twenty-minute drive from Willow Point Resort, organizes three Christmas events every season. During Main Street Bethlehem, the downtown square turns into the ancient village! Complete with costumed townspeople preparing bread and tending to their animals. On the weekend, guests can enjoy either Christmas on the Square or Christmas at Ft. Croghan. During the former, various arts and crafts booths, parades, and live entertainment fill the Historic Downtown Square. And for Christmas at Ft. Croghan, families come together to celebrate Christmas in traditional 1800s fashion.

Also near Willow Point Resort, Llano organizes Starry Starry Nights. Beginning the night after Thanksgiving, the town’s park lights up with canopies of Christmas lights. Holiday treats can be purchased, and best yet, Santa Claus makes an appearance. Snow Day in Badu Park is the other Llano holiday event that we’re sure your family will love. On the second Saturday in December, the park is filled with snow and transforms into a winter wonderland! Visitors can enjoy sledding, food, and again, Santa Claus!

For those willing to make the drive, 11 communities throughout the Texas Hill Country organize a Regional Christmas Lighting Trail every December. Each town fills its downtown area with Christmas decorations and light displays. And lucky for us, Burnet and Llano are two of the participating communities!

If you’re already in the car exploring the Texas Hill Country Regional Christmas Lighting Trail, we recommend stopping in Fredericksburg, about an hour’s drive from Willow Point Resort. Every holiday season, the town sets up an ice-skating rink and Christmas market! It comes complete with authentic German food like honey cakes and peppernuts, artisan crafts, and live music. Settled by German immigrants over 160 years ago, the town has maintained much of its original charm, from its quaint buildings to the lederhosen on sale. And since the Germans love celebrating Christmas, Fredericksburg has taken it upon itself to recreate the same level of holiday enthusiasm. We’re sure you’ll love the craft beer as much as your kids love the sweet German pretzels!
